Permanent Bases Signing
Statement Will Help Kill Troops in Iraq
by Ralph
Lopez, Wed Jan 30, 2008
Published
at DailyKos on a day Senator Ted Kennedy entered a Kos Diary:
It's nice to
see Senator Ted
Kennedy in the cyber-room,
and I'll admit I'm surprised he went for Obama instead of Hillary.
Nice move, senator. But while you're here I'd be remiss not
to raise
to most pressing recent outrage against the rule of law by the Bush
administration, and ask once again what it will take for you to use
your considerable political heft, behind the scenes, to rally your
party around to impeachment.
John Conyers was
recently asked "Is there anything that could happen
that would change your mind [about allowing impeachment hearings to
proceed against Dick Cheney]?" Conyers said: "Sure. There
are plenty
of things that could happen."
Employing his usual tortured logic about the powers of the
Commander-in-Chief, Bush has issued
a signing statement
saying he doesn't need to obey any funding prohibition against building
permanent military bases in Iraq. Bush's talent for doing the
precise
thing that will further drive Muslim moderates into the arms of
extremists and boost Al Qaeda recruiting has outdone itself...MORE
UK Times Breaks Update on
State Dept. Traitor
by Ralph Lopez,
Sun. Jan 20, 2008
It
looks like the Democrats' refusal to enforce accountability by
impeachment is digging them in as accomplices to treason. First
Cheney
gets away with murder (in the case of Valerie Plame's informants, who
may be getting knocked off one-by-one as we speak.) Now this.
This
involves members of Bush's State Department whom the Times calls
"household names." Total blackout in U.S. media, thank God for
the
Brits. Looks like it's only a matter of time before Al Qaeda gets
a
suitcase bomb, thanks to an administration riddled with traitors like
Cheney and a Congress which refused to do anything about it. When
blood runs in the streets and the air is filled with sounds of
mourning, be sure to call your anti-impeachment, Democratic congressman
and thank him for worrying more about "the next election."
From the UK
Times:
"the government official warned a Turkish member of
the network that
they should not deal with a company called Brewster Jennings because it
was a CIA front company investigating the nuclear black market. The
officials warning came two years before Brewster Jennings was
publicly
outed when one of its staff, Valerie Plame, was revealed to be a CIA
agent in a case that became a cause célèbre in the US."...MORE...
C.I.A. Tapes a Smoking Gun on
American "Enemy Combatant" -- Was Padilla convicted
based on tortured testimony?
by ralphlopez
, Dec. 21, 2007
Missing almost entirely from news coverage of the
destroyed CIA
tapes is the explosive fact that they involve Jose Padilla, the
American citizen held incommunicado and without charges or a trial for
nearly four years. The Sixth Amendment of the Constitution, the
"Bill
of Rights" states: "In all criminal prosecutions, the accused, shall
enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of
the State."On May 8th, 2002, the government seized Padilla on American soil on allegations, but not formal charges, of terrorism. George Bush ordered the military to take custody of Padilla as an "enemy combatant" in the June 9, 2002 Presidential Order to Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, which said:
"I, GEORGE W. BUSH, as President of the United States and Commander in Chief of the U.S. armed forces, hereby DETERMINE for the United States of America that...Jose Padilla, who is under the control of the Department of Justice and who is a U.S. citizen, is, and at the time he entered the United States in May 2002 was, an enemy combatant...you are directed to receive Mr. Padilla from the Department of Justice and to detain him as an enemy combatant. "
In military detention, Padilla was made to sleep on a metal cot, subjected to hooding, stress positions...MORE...
Congressmen Standing in the Way of History
Only 31 congressmen now stand in the way of history, with the recent additions of Weiner and Gutierrez to the ranks of House Judiciary Committee members in favor of hearings on Cheney. The resolution is still bottled up here, it's up to them. Pick up the phone, go down the list, clog up their fax lines, call their campaign contributors until they get it. The People Want Impeachment! Think of friends and relatives who live in these states and have them call and write letters too. Handwritten letters are very effective.

And the Rest...to find your U.S. congressman enter your zip code here, ask him where he stands and urge him to get behind impeachment to restore the Constitution and the rule of law in America...
