Congressman Wexler Asking for Online Signatures for Impeachment.



Six-term Congressman Robert Wexler is asking Americans to go to WexlerWantsHearings.com to sign a petition putting pressure on Congress to start impeachment hearings against Vice President Dick Cheney immediately.  Wexler is a senior member of the House Judiciary Committee, where an impeachment resolution introduced by Congressman Dennis Kucinich remains bottled up.  The importance of the aggressive stance now taken by the powerful Wexler cannot be over-stated.

In a recent Op-ed, Wexler, Luis Gutierrez (D-IL) and Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) wrote:

"For an Administration that has consistently skirted the constitution and asserted that it is above the law, it is imperative for Congress to make clear that we do not accept this dangerous precedent. Our Founding Fathers provided Congress the power of impeachment for just this reason, and we must now at least consider using it."

Wexler's initial goal for signatures was 50,000, but in a stunning response by the public, those were collected within  ONE DAY after his announcement!!!  The goal is now to collect a half-million online signatures to push Nancy Pelosi and the House leadership into action.
